Timber Pizza: A Slice of Adventure Coming to Charleston!

This new downtown Charleston location will be Timber’s seventh, and for those familiar with the brand, it promises a similar vibe to its other locations in McLean, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina. However, this establishment breaks the mold of a typical franchise, thanks in large part to its operator and chef.

Jeremy Waybright, the culinary mind behind this new venture, previously helmed the kitchens at Tempest and Butcher & Bee in Charleston. He has been a fan of Timber Pizza Co. since its original location opened in a former church in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, D.C., in 2016. As a chef in the area at that time, Waybright quickly became an admirer of founders Andrew Dana and Chris Brady and their unique pizza, which combines the airy crust of Neapolitan pies with the satisfying chewiness of a New York slice.

Now, nearly a decade later, Waybright is excited to bring that same approachable style to the Charleston community.

The new Timber Pizza location features a vibrant mural, communal tables, and a long bar equipped with two televisions, making it the perfect spot to enjoy local beers and cocktails during “Timber Time” happy hour. The menu, though small, offers a delightful selection of items, including pizzas and empanadas, all cooked in a custom wood-fired oven that is prominently displayed in the dining room.

Timber Pizza Co. began its journey as a mobile pizzeria with a wood-burning oven attached to a classic 1967 blue Chevrolet pickup truck. Now, it has evolved into a casual dining experience with counter service and no reservations required. Despite the laid-back atmosphere, Waybright emphasizes that the food is taken seriously, featuring hand-rolled dough that undergoes a 48-hour fermentation process and a commitment to using local ingredients. The menu will feature seasonal salads, pizzas, and empanadas, along with a few beloved staples.
